An Update from the Internal Medicine Program at Hannibal Regional for Applicants Pursuing 2026 NRMP Match Placement in Graduate Medical Education:
2025-26 Tiered Program Signals for Internal Medicine Residency Programs and Applicants
The dynamic new program at Hannibal Regional is a 3-year program in Graduate Medical Education in the specialty of Internal Medicine.
We are excited about the development, implementation, and growth of our new program and encourage you to apply via ERAS!
- The internal medicine community nationwide in the USA has communicated to programs and applicants that it will continue with its 15 tiered program signals in the upcoming recruitment cycle: 3 Gold and 12 Silver.
- Each specialty has developed a unique approach to its specialty application process, with signals being recognized as a relatively new development and an ongoing dynamic process in the GME application processes for specialties.
- Under the umbrella of transition to graduate medical education from undergraduate medical education, the nationwide signal recommendations apply to Categorical Internal Medicine Programs i.e. 3-year programs.
- New for this application season (NRMP Match of 2026): all Internal Medicine Residency Programs will automatically be opted-in to receive program signals. Individual programs may elect to opt-out of participating in program signaling in ERAS.
- It has been communicated to programs and applicants that even though a residency program elects to utilize program signals as part of its review processes, that signaling a program does not guarantee an interview.
- Our program intends to utilize signals, when communicated by candidates who so choose, within the context of the entirety of the application process.
- Our program also intends to interview candidates that may not signal our program as we recognize that signals have been established by the broader internal medicine community with a limited quantity (15 total per candidate).
- Our program is committed to career professional development, starting with a talent pipeline that begins even before medical school and continues with the application process to graduate medical education programs.
- All applications to our program will be received via the ERAS processes and portal.
- Candidates should note that ERAS and NRMP are separate entities with separate processes. Links to these organizations are posted on our website.
- Enjoy reviewing our program on our website!
- We look forward to receiving your application on ERAS!
