27th Annual Hannibal Cannibal

7/2/2022 6:30 am - 7:00 am

Hannibal, MO -- Mark your calendars for the 27th Annual Hannibal Cannibal, Saturday, July 2, 2022 presented by Hannibal Regional Foundation.  The Cannibal, which takes place during National Tom Sawyer Days, is a Hannibal tradition, drawing runners from across the United States. Sponsored by Advance Physical Therapy, the race includes 5K, 10K and 15K run, as well as a 5K leisure walk so it is suitable for all levels of athletes.

This year’s race will look more like the event in years prior to the pandemic.  The Cannibal will once again have multiple water stations along the course, but will still offer bottled water at each station as well. A full awards ceremony for each distance will be held after each event has concluded, and race day packet pickup will once again be an option.  One pandemic safety measure that most runners preferred and will remain this year is the rolling start.  This year participants will be able to start their race any time between 6:30 am and 7:00 am.  The Cannibal is a rain or shine event.

“For the last two years, we have run the race with safety measures in place to help mitigate the spread of Covid.  Thanks to the efforts of all involved, we were able to continue the Cannibal tradition and had great turnouts and positive feedback from all the participants.  This year we are looking forward to a more normal looking race day with lots of participants and great finishes,” shares Angie Wilcoxson, Race Director.

Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit the Helping Hearts Campaign at Hannibal Regional Foundation. Hannibal Regional invests in many programs to benefit local heart patients, and this new campaign will raise funds for the Cardiac Rehab program in 2022.  Funds raised will specifically assist with a renovation of the cardiac rehab space, new equipment, and programs/resources for cardiac rehab patients.
