Hannibal Regional is pleased to announce that it was recently honored with numerous awards for excellence in healthcare by Healthgrades®, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems. Many of these awards have been received by Hannibal Regional for several years in a row now, including being one of Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery™ and a Five-Star Recipient for Pacemaker Procedures three years in a row. One new award this year was being recognized as one of Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Surgical Care™.

Healthgrades® ratings are based on over 45 million Medicare medical claims for the most recent three-year period available. Data received is for nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide and covers 31 conditions and procedures. Hospitals can neither opt-in or opt-out nor can they submit their own data, so the ratings are independent and impartial.

“Healthgrades® has a long-standing commitment to providing greater transparency when it comes to hospital quality,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades®. “Our analysis is designed to help consumers better understand the importance of hospital quality and how it can affect patient care, which has never been more important.”

Hannibal Regional was also honored with the Healthgrades 2022 Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ placing Hannibal Regional among the top 10% in the nation for joint replacement procedures seven years in a row.  Related Healthgrades® orthopedic accolades for Hannibal Regional include 5-Star recognition for spinal fusion surgery, 5-star for total knee replacement procedures for a ninth consecutive year (2014-2022), and 5-Star recognition for total hip replacement procedures for four consecutive years (2019-2022).

In addition to the orthopedic and cardiac services awards,  Hannibal Regional was also honored with several other surgical care awards, including the Healthgrades Surgical Care Excellence Award™.

“We take great pride in knowing that Hannibal Regional is one of the few hospitals in Missouri to be recognized by Healthgrades® three years in a row as one of America’s 100 best hospitals for orthopedic surgery and that we have once again received the Healthgrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award™,” said Hannibal Regional President and Chief Executive Officer C. Todd Ahrens. “Our dedicated physicians, nurses, and team members who work together every day to provide high-quality patient care are who we want to recognize for these achievements.”
