The Cannibal, which takes place during National Tom Sawyer Days, is a Hannibal tradition, drawing runners from across the United States. Sponsored by Advance Physical Therapy, the race includes 5K, 10K and 15K run, as well as a 5K leisure walk so it is suitable for all levels of athletes. Local Volunteer Saved by Hannibal Regional Cardiologists For the last five years, John Griffin of Hannibal, MO has been a familiar face around Hannibal Regional, not as a patient, but as a volunteer. As a member of Hannibal Regional Auxiliary, he has volunteered much of his time in many different ways at the hospital, including being part of almost every single mass vaccination clinic held during the peak of the pandemic. Unfortunately, in August of 2021, John became very sick and ended up a patient at Hannibal Regional, fighting for his life. Dr. David Lemons and Dr. Santhosh Mannem, both Interventional Cardiologists at Hannibal Regional Medical Group, were instrumental in saving John’s life.
