28th Hannibal Cannibal Makes a Big Bang

7/7/2023

The 28th Annual Hannibal Cannibal kicked off on Saturday, July 1, with a big bang from the cannon start at 6:30 am, and this year’s race did not disappoint.  While the early morning forecast showed thunderstorms at race time, the clouds parted, the rain stayed at bay and multiple records were broken.  This year’s event had over 1,500 registrations and saw its highest proceeds to date with just over $65,000 raised. Additionally, three course records were broken during this year’s race.

“It’s always so much fun to watch 1,500 participants take off down Main Street, but my favorite part of the race is meeting the participants and hearing where they are from and what brings them to the Cannibal,” states Race Director, Angie Wilcoxson.

The $65,000 raised from this year’s race is supporting Hannibal Regional Foundation’s Making Memories Matter Campaign. This campaign is raising funds to expand services and offer additional assistance to patients and families at Hospice of Northeast Missouri, a service of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System. Be sure to mark your calendars for the 29th Annual Hannibal Cannibal on July 6, 2024!
