Every year Hannibal Regional Foundation presents the Legacy Award at the Hannibal Cannibal, named after long-time Cannibal supporter Bob Richards. The award recognizes an individual who is an avid supporter of the Cannibal and a promoter of healthy and active lifestyles. This year’s recipient is Mary Lynne Richards of Hannibal, MO.
Mary Lynne was part of the original planning committee for the very first Cannibal in 1996, and has run just about every year and competed in all three distance categories – 5/10/15k. Richards is best known for her cartwheels at the top of Lover’s Leap.
In the early planning meetings for the Cannibal, Richard questioned whether people would really run up Lover’s Leap, given the steepness of the incline. Twenty-eight years later, individuals flock to the Cannibal for the bragging rights of conquering Lover’s Leap.
Congratulations to Mary Lynne and thanks for your dedication and support of Hannibal Regional Foundation and the Hannibal Cannibal!
