Hannibal Regional hosted a Topping Out Ceremony for the new state-of-the-art cancer center being built in Kirksville on Wednesday, July 8. A topping out ceremony is a long-standing construction tradition that marks the placement of the final structural beam on a building. Often considered one of the most significant milestones in a project, this ceremony provides an opportunity to celebrate the progress made while looking ahead to the building’s completion.
In attendance were team members and senior leaders from Hannibal Regional and Complete Family Medicine, members of the Board of Directors and more than 100 community members. Leading the ceremony, Hannibal Regional President & CEO Todd Ahrens shared, “We are so excited to be celebrating this step in our progress toward bringing radiation oncology care back to the Kirksville area. The generous support of the Legacy of Hope Campaign by the people and organizations in this community has been instrumental in making this happen, and we look forward to opening our doors to patients in spring of 2027.”
Those in attendance were invited to put their signatures on the beam, which was then lifted into place at the end of the event. For more information about the Legacy of Hope
