A rheumatologist is an internist who has advances training in the detection and treatment of musculoskeletal disease and systemic autoimmune conditions which are commonly known as rheumatic diseases. These diseases can affect the joints, muscles and bones causing pain, swelling, stiffness, and deformity.

Everyone experiences muscle and joint pain occasionally, but when the issues aren’t resolved as expected it may be time to see a rheumatologist.
