From the Internal Medicine Residency Program
Colleagues:
We are pleased to communicate that we are beginning a brand new Internal Medicine Residency Program at Hannibal Regional in the scenic river town of Hannibal, Missouri! Hannibal is a picturesque community on the Mississippi River in the heart of the Midwest, geographically positioned as a great place to live and work, located between St. Louis to the south, Kansas City to the west, and Chicago to the north… made famous by the writings of Mark Twain and the exciting adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Your future adventures with us in graduate medical education promise to be just as exciting!
Our lifelong learning community at Hannibal Regional is engaged and ready to welcome you as a prospective resident physician colleague, from international, osteopathic or allopathic medical student pathways! Our many adventures in building a new Graduate Medical Education Enterprise will build upon the accomplishments Hannibal Regional has already achieved with affiliations and working partnerships with medical schools in the region. Our medical students have really enjoyed their many experiences at Hannibal Regional in diverse settings in undergraduate medical education, working alongside our experienced and esteemed staff, nurses, physicians, and leadership.
Our new program in internal medicine will set you up for success with coaching and mentoring throughout your time in Graduate Medical Education as you continue to grow in patient care, medical education, and scholarship roles as a physician. We will equip physicians as leaders for their multifaceted futures in the delivery of excellent healthcare to our patients, families, and communities in the region. Our community-based program will give you tremendous opportunities in delivering healthcare, understanding chronic disease management, using state of the art technology, benefiting from excellent teaching from skilled staff and physicians, and growing as a leader with your new resident physician colleagues following your medical school experiences. You will have many opportunities to present your work with your colleagues at local, regional, and national meetings while preparing for employment or fellowships in Internal Medicine. During this exciting adventure, you will experience tremendous growth as a resident physician while we foster your continuous learning and career professional development in the new program!
