Mission Statement

Our mission is to train a new generation of skilled and compassionate physicians who are committed to providing comprehensive healthcare to underserved rural populations.

Program Overview

The new Hannibal Regional Internal Medicine residency program will set you up for success with coaching and mentoring throughout your time in Graduate Medical Education:

  • Patient care - large variety of patients with complex medical conditions
  • Medical education – Training by dedicated faculty
  • Scholarship and Research
  • Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement Projects
  • Leadership roles as a resident physician including engaging in educational sessions, serving on committees while working in groups and sharing your scholarship work at local, regional, national meetings
  • Community engagement opportunities

We will equip resident physicians as leaders for their multifaceted futures in the delivery of excellent healthcare to our patients, families, and communities in the region.

Structure:

  • 6 residents per class starting July 2027
  • We look forward to receiving your application for the new program!

Our community-based program will give you tremendous opportunities in:

  • Delivering excellent healthcare to individual patients and populations from the community and region.
  • Understanding chronic disease management and population health.
  • Working in value-based care models oriented toward achieving healthcare outcomes for patients and populations of patients.
  • Using state-of-the-art technology
    • Hands on training with Apollo Modules
    • Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
  • Benefiting from excellent inpatient and outpatient teaching from skilled staff and physicians.
  • Growing as a leader with your new resident physician colleagues with ample mentorship opportunities from faculty and leaders.
  • Presenting your work frequently with your colleagues at local, regional, and national meetings while preparing for employment following graduate medical education and/or applying for any of the many different competitive fellowships in Internal Medicine.
  • Didactic Training, Noon Conference, Morning Report, and Grand Rounds

  • Social events with fellow residents and faculty/staff
